2019 - The Loves & The Losses
As 2019 comes to an end, we take a look back at some memorable Louisiana Eats! highlights from the past year.
We begin by remembering our favorite New Orleans cookbook nook, Kitchen Witch, which sadly closed earlier this year after 20 years in business. Like so many independent bookstores, this local gem was squeezed from multiple directions, including online retail and technology.
Then we have a toast to Bayou Teche Brewing, which has been brewing up Louisiana magic in the little town of Arnaudville for 10 years. Our friend Karlos Knott tells us how his family brewery has evolved over the last decade, and gives us a glimpse into its future.
We also take another look at 50 years of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival with Michelle Nugent, the organization's food director for two decades. She explains what it takes to manage the Food Heritage Stage, along with all of the food vendors located around the festival.
Finally, we remember those we lost this year, including Chef Carl Schaubhut and the late, great Leah Chase.
