Happy Birthday, Louisiana Eats!
On this week's show, we’re celebrating the 8th anniversary of our show's debut!
We're digging through the archives for some of our favorite moments from the past 8 years, starting from the very beginning. The first episode of Louisiana Eats broadcast on June 9, 2010. That year also marked the 125th anniversary of New Orleans’ streetcar line. We look back at our very first field piece, when we took a streetcar ride with the late, great historian Michael Mizell-Nelson.
Then, we revisit our conversation with Priestess Miriam Chamani, who presides over North Rampart Street's Voodoo Spiritual Temple.
In 2014, the Louisiana Eats crew traveled to Napa Valley for an intensive four-day seminar at Cakebread Cellars' American Harvest Workshop. In this piece, we go into the vineyard to harvest the chardonnay grapes.
Next, we become reacquainted with Irish natives Pauline and Stephen Patterson, who put down roots in New Orleans when they opened Finn McCool's pub in Mid-City back in the 90s.
FInally, we rediscover our 2014 field trip to Great Raft Brewing in Shreveport, where we learned all about what makes the flavor profile of craft beer in the Shreveport-Bossier area distinctive.
