Springtime For Louisiana Food Lovers

It's springtime in the Bayou State! On this week's show, we're following the Easter Bunny to Ponchatoula, Louisiana for a tour of the Elmer Candy factory. With a heritage that reaches back to 1855, Elmer Candy is not only the oldest candy maker in Louisiana, but one of the oldest in the nation.

For a completely different take on Louisiana chocolate-making, we tour the workshop at Acalli Chocolate. Carol Morse premiered her chocolate bars at the 2015 Good Food Awards in San Francisco, taking home an award before they were available anywhere for sale! In Carol's West Bank kitchen, we get to learn about her bean-to-bar process.

Chris McMillian of Revel Cafe and Bar is legendary in the mixology community for his deft understanding of classic cocktails. But if there’s one cocktail that Chris is most closely associated with, it’s the Mint Julep. We speak with Chris to learn all about this quintessential springtime concoction.

Finally, we hop on over to Benton, Louisiana where Chef Holly Schrieber and her husband Derek operate Sainte Terre, a special occasions venue that caters to dream weddings.
